After having really bad diarrhoea both from my stoma AND my rectum, I had to phone 111 tonight! After speaking to a few lovely people, including a nurse, a doctor phoned me back! She asked all sorts of relevent questions but after telling her about how much diarrhoea I'd passed from the rectum, I was quite surprised when she told me to 'just hang fire' for a few days! When I questioned her about the diarrhoea from the rectum, she assured me that having a stoma didn't mean this wouldn't happen! She was slightly surprised when I told her I'd had it for 21 months! After taking a couple of Immodium, it's eased, only tiny amounts just coming from rectum but it's left me feeling uneasy!
Best Wishes,

Hi Moira
What a shock after nearly two years you must have been worried.
Can you phone your Stoma nurses I was very lucky with mine they’re a lovely supportive bunch?
Or phone here they’re equally supportive and informative
I would not be happy with ,” this can happen” I would want the Why? Answered
Do you think it was a virus or something that you ate.
Take care xx

Hi Ann,
I tried phoning the stoma clinic and they were completely uninterested! Told me my first port of call was my GP! That's after being told when I was discharged that they were always there for me! It's like all of my aftercare has been, non existent! The doctor I spoke to was really nice but I think I WILL phone my own GP tomorrow! I think, somehow, I've picked something up, I've been feeling 'off' for a few days!
Thank goodness I have this site, I'd go around the bend otherwise!
Take care,
Moira x
Hi Moira
Sorry that you’ve be abandoned by your team. They should be there for you.
I think phoning your GP is a really good choice and leave a message with your team to phone you back. They did the operation and should explain why you are having these symptoms.
I’ve had a dodgy tum since I had the flu jab. I’m okay just a bit off.
take care Moira
Sending you a hug xxx
