I ate a baked potato last night but forgot not to eat the skin! I'm now worried that it could block the stoma.
Should I take laxatives? Can I eat anything to ensure the skins pass through?
FYI I'm only nine weeks on from my colostomy surgery and still learning

I feel for you I’ve had a couple of scares.
I’m an ileostomy so I’m sorry that I can’t advice on laxatives.
I’m hoping that the colostomy will process your food better than my Ileostomy
can you phone your team tomorrow mine were really supportive.
If you have discomfort maybe phone the nurses here.

I eat the skin on baked potato very regularly and have never had an issue with it with a colostomy. I was never told there was anything I couldn’t or should not eat. I wouldn’t personally take laxatives just yet-you may find you have no issues at all. But if you start to experience any pain or discomfort. then seek advice from your nurse.

You should be fine it’s an ileostomy that limits fibre. I have to be careful.
My biggest miss is sweetcorn!

I never Google stuff-it will tell me things I don’t want to read! I just try stuff and see how I go. I had some issues in the early weeks-some things made me sick, and I didn’t seem to digest them well: peanuts, cheese and bacon didn’t go down well, but I’m fine with everything nowadays. Hope it works out well for you.

At nine weeks I was still having issues if I recall. It took a while to settle. I had my op Mid March and at my birthday at the end of May I remember being really unwell. As the summer progressed it became much better.
