As most know here I had a LAR August last year and before the op I was told two to three months however with the Covid situation it would be six
I had the blue dye test January that showed I would need an EAU to check that all was clear for a reversal. I was also told at my follow up that they thought that whilst under a GA if all was clear they would reverse me.
I thought that makes perfect sense as why have two lots of GA but it would mean I wouldn’t know before going in if I was able to be reversed. So I was told I would need a pre op
That was January
Previously my surgeon had said that reversals are best at two months and a maximum of six. Twelve months was not so successful
So here I am a couple of weeks away from the year and all my diary dates that were planned have been deleted. There’s not going to be a colonoscopy August because I haven’t been reversed. I’m waiting for a CT scan appointment and my CEA levels are due August
I am in a state of limbo really
How long did others wait before having a reversal and if over twelve months was it really difficult to gain bowel control?
Im seriously thinking of not bothering and booking a holiday!
Who knew?

Artsie, so sorry to read of your awful experiences at the hands of people you so admire. I hope things improve for you soon, and that you are able to get the benefits of the decision you reached about the reversal. All those reason are, I hope, still valid for you going forward - even with a cold backside!
Love the toilet seat.
Somebody’s beat my idea.
It’s back to the drawing board for me.
Thanks Bagpuss. I’m brighter today I’ve got the district nurses coming as my wounds leaking and I’ve spoken to my surgeon he’s really reassuring and supportive. I’m blessed
you have a good day
Ann
Thanks Artsie, I' been very tired lately which turns out to be anaemia, which at least is treatable.
Regarding your wound, for my colostomy I had one - stapled - from well above the navel down to the pubic bones. As this was some way from the new fitting it was explained that this was to 'get the camera in'. Of course once you've got the camera, the operator, the best boy, the key grip and the continuity girl in it's going to be a large opening!
I'm glad you're feeling better, let's hope tomorrow's visit turns things round for you.
Cheers, Roy
Thanks Kath
Do you know I am obsessed with poo!
It’s fascinating me, before all this I just went in the toilet did my business pulled the flush washed hands and didn’t give it a thought.
Then with whoopi I could see what I’d eaten anyway!
Now I’m judging shape consistency and size.
Think I may need therapy.
Im doing really well thank you things are really improving I expect set backs, I’m not able to go out yet and still camping on the sofa but I am beginning to see my body having some routine. Though sadly my body seems to like to empty when I need to sleep.
But I’m just going with it
Thanks Kath
How are you ?
Ann
Well done Ann-you have a brilliant attitude and I’m glad things are improving for you. We are all obsessed with poo, but I have the double whammy of also being obsessed by wee! Colour, volume, any mucus? It’s a full time job some days!
Hope things continue on the upward trend of becoming easier for you and you can move off the sofa soon!

Hi Karen this is perfect I will print out and keep in the toilet then I can describe my stools in the correct terminology rather that saying a soft half sized cocktail sausage which was my first excited discovery, most of my descriptions seem to be based on various sausage types or just liquid
Luckily I have lots of stickers my sanity depended on it when working with thirty four year olds so my choice is vast
We were definitely type 7 in hospital and for a while after.
You could of done with that chart to help that doctor in hospital. It definitely says entirely liquid !
Thanks
Have a good day x
Ann
Well I’m outside of hospital at this moment.
Went to doctors to have staples removed. Nurse looked at my wound like she saw an alien about to appear
Called the doctor he said I needed to see surgical ultra sound and over night stay
NO my bowels still in training
I went to closest hospital Southmead as hubby has appointment at two and has been waiting two years for it. He’s not going to miss it
They didn’t want to touch me as I’m under BRI. Reluctantly sent me to surgical. I had left message for Mr Randall earlier.
He left a voice Mail.
He was at the Community Hospital
I was met by him who took my bag and examined the wound said it looked good.
It’s got a hole where the stoma was formed.
I said Whoopis trying to come back.
He reassured me I also said I’ve been holding it to stop my guts falling out.
At this point he really laughed.
Im so blessed to have such wonderful care.
He saw me at the drop of a hat. What a star he is.
