High waisted clothing for someone with a stoma bag

Hello,

Could anyone recommend places that might sell men's clothing suitable for someone with a stoma, please?

A family member has a stoma after a urostomy (as a result of bladder and kidney cancer). He's managed to get high-waisted trousers from Chums, and special underwear from CuiWear, but now he's looking for some long shorts. The obvious place to look for help is a forum such as this one, but that would be too simple for him, which is why I'm here asking on his behalf (before, full disclosure here, his stoma becomes the least of his worries...). I have checked out the companies recommended on the Urostomy Association website, but while some of them sell swim shorts, none of them sell long ones. Can anyone on here suggest somewhere that might, please? Thanks for reading!

  • Hi BladerWrack, have you tried SupportX, I seem to remember their catalogue having some and I am sure they could advise you where to go if they don't.

    All the best, John

  • Hi, Have a look at Cotton Traders, they may have something suitable.

  • Hello, Crankshaft.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. Unfortunately (wouldn't you know?), SupportX only does underwear, no outerwear.

I'm so sorry for not responding sooner, I lost my password and it's taken me until now to work out how to sign in again!

    Thanks, again, and apologies, again,

  • Hello, Matilda.

Thanks so much for trying to help. However, it looks like Cotton Traders will be a lost cause too. They do loads of loose stuff and/or has an adjustable waist, but nothing high-waisted, or at least not 'high waisted' as he would understand it. I'm sure the loose-waisted stuff would be OK, but I guess it's not me that would be wearing it...

  • Thanks, Crankshaft and Matilda 5, for your suggestions and help.

If I/we do manage to find anything suitable for my relative I'll post it here, just in case it might help someone else with a similar issue some time in the future.

  • Hello, anyone who posted an answer to my original post (should you see this), and to anyone who happens upon this while struggling with a similar issue!

So, we have a solution to the high-waisted shorts situation: Chums (chums.co.uk). Now, my family member has already bought high-waisted trousers from there (and been very happy with them), so why he didn't look there for shorts, I have no idea. But anyway, he did look, did order some and is now as happy with them as he is/was with his trousers.

Thanks, again, to everyone who tried to help him/us.
