I’ve been searching for tips on travelling and have gained lots of advice in different posts.
I have found one here four years ago but it’s pre-Covid
So I thought it’d be really great to make it an easy reference point for us all and for future travellers.
I used to ferry to Ireland twice a year. It’s a ten hour door to door for me to see my son in Tipperary. Also I travelled to Spain to see my brother twice a year its a shorter time but scary fly situation. I’ve read that bags can explode!!
Please can you add your experiences ,advice and tips.
With many thanks
I hope you get a response to your complaint Ann. My gp surgery wanted £25 for a letter to send to my insurance company to make a claim. I asked my consultant, and he did one for me at no cost.
It’s outrageous that they cause us more stress!
When we phoned the special assistance department at Jet2 the first time and explained things, the guy we were speaking to knew all about stomas as his mum had a colostomy!
Your holiday will definitely be worth it I’m sure. Getting to hug family again will be priceless.

£25 is disgusting!
My GP aka the invisible man has had nothing to do with my treatment. We can’t see him as he’s hired two Rottweilers Receptionists
Hes a nice guy but unaware of what is going on he runs around in scrubs and clogs He’s sooooo busy. I could write a comedy sketch
when we went for our flu jab. Imagine this. A flu jab is usually for the OAPS now old age brings its challenges. We walked into the waiting room.
THERE WAS SQUARE TAPE MARKINGS ON THE FLOOR. NO CHAIRS
We had to stand in the waiting room before being called in.
Because they didn’t want to wash the chairs !
I felt like throwing myself in the floor and having a temper tantrum
My surgery could be comparable to Faulty Towers

Oh my goodness-I’m truly shocked by the things that go on! When I went for my covid booster there was a long queue waiting. I had my walking stick and one of the volunteers immediately went and got me a chair. I wouldn’t have been able to stand that length of time but they were so lovely to me. And then I had a chair to sit in after the jab to make sure I was ok. They had volunteers sanitising any chairs after use.

Ann, your GP sounds a bit like ours. I don't even know his/her name! I hadn't seen a GP for around 20 years prior to my diagnosis. The cancer was picked up through bowel screening a year ago so I didn't see a GP then either. After diagnosis, LAR and ileostomy, no-one from the surgery has been in touch. From what I hear, the surgery is like Fort Knox and they didn't even do any vaccinations there either. Poor show.
Ditto. I’m bowel screening too. with a LAR and Ileostomy We had the same I just read your bio. My op was August 4th. I’m not sure about reversal either. It’s on the back burner. Let’s enjoy life I say.
My doctor has been in touch with me when I asked for pain meds and later I needed antidepressants. He’s a lovely gentle man but he’s clueless to the greeting his patients get.
We are so lucky to have the amazing bowel screening and aftercare. I’ve been so impressed with the cohesive care between my team. Bless them
Ann
