I have a Colonoscopy later this week as part of my cancer screening post my stoma op.  The camera will go in via the stoma.  Be grateful for advice on those who have had this, if its uncomfortable/painful and if you'd recommend a sedative?  Thanks

  • Hi BCH. I have a stoma and had a colonoscopy in November, my first since my surgery. I found it not as uncomfortable as my first one, the normal way. Also, the bowel prep is a lot easier to deal with as there isn't so much urgency to get to the bathroom with having the pouch. Every  cloud has a silver lining!Cloud️ I don't know what kind of stoma you have. Mine is a colostomy so I use closed pouches, so I used drainable ones during my bowel prep. Good luck.

Thanks KIm, that's helpful and good to know!  I do use the drainable one, so hopefully make it easier!
