Hello

I know on the potential blockage list corn and popcorn feature. I have interpreted this as Sweet Corn . . . but I wanted to check in whether this also includes corn snacks - such as tortillas, gluten-free maize flour crisps and suchlike?

Thanks as ever for replies, info and help.

Best wishes.

Popcorn, corn, peanuts etc are all potentially dangerous to eat as they can be difficult to break down the fibre in them so they can't be easily digested. No matter how many times you chew nuts you will always see/feel hard unbroken down part of them in your pouch and the same applies to corn on the cob, these products probably contribute to most blockages.

corn snacks - such as tortillas, gluten-free maize flour crisps are just like crisps and can easily be broken down by simply chewing into a paste before swallowing.

If you like peanut butter buy the smooth type as no pieces of nuts should be present.

You have also to be careful with a fruit cake with nuts and dried fruit both can cause a problem.

    Thanks Ian,

That was my thinking exactly - but then I had a slight worry that somehow corn itself could be a problem. So thank you again for confirming this - and chewing really is the answer.

I don't know if you know whether Chia Seeds are generally tolerated? The seeds themselves are small, and before I became ill I used to soak a teaspoon overnight in water, then add them to my fruit smoothie in the morning and put it all in the Nutri-bullet for a good blend. I am having everything else at the moment, Kale, Bananas, Strawberries, Almonds, Ground Flax and Ginger, but I haven't quite felt brave enough to try the Chia Seeds. Kissing

I hope you are doing okay?

    Many thanks and best wishes.
