I developed a nasty infection just before in was due for an APR procedure following AC radio/ chemo.
I ended up in hospital with a temp of 39c and had a double stoma and a few medeivel looking drain holes to clear the problem up.
While i was in hospital I wasnt really with it naturally but recall a surgeon assessing me using words like "Perferated" and "Not sure what kind of quality of life we could offer you ".
I'm assuming he was talking from zero back ground knowledge of my infection and what it could mean. Just assessing it on the surface so to speak.
I am having the wounds packed by district nurses each day and am expecting a new MRI in a short while.
Does anyone have any experience of infections causing issues with APRs?
I did have some peace of mind ref the procedure offering a cure but that's been shattered by the suggestions that they might not be able to offer it if there are issues with infections.
I appreciate this may seem like a pretty vague question.
Any insight or experience may help me put my mind back together though.
Cheers
Ian
