Not been on here for few months but I have had a phone call yesterday my reversal is tomorrow and looking for a few tips on what to eat after the operation and what to expect
read a few things and to be truthful a bit scared off what to expect ?
Hi sorry I haven’t answered earlier but been away on holiday still can’t believe I managed to go ! Was terrified at the thought off having an accident on the plane and was scared at what I could eat but it was amazing holiday. Everything went well better than what I could hope for , I started taking loperamide but only one at a time at it didn’t seem to work so gp says to try 2 at a time twice a day and all seems to be fine went back to work for a week before my holiday but back full time on Monday so life seems to be getting back to normal ,but this form has been a life saver yous are all very special people and I can’t thank you enough
That’s good let me know when you get a date ,you might not feel great at first I wonder if I had done the right thing? but I think with any off my journey you have to give it time .My surgeon was going to leave my operation until after my holiday but had a cancellation. So I got it 5 weeks before I didn’t think I would be able to go but he thought differently and he was right!
Hi I had my reversal in October and I won’t lie the first few weeks when I got out we’re hard but it settled down managed to get away on holiday to Turkey after 5 weeks but still had to watch what I ate and still do small portion seems to work well, must admit have had a few times I would have my bag back ! But it’s been 6 months and the little accidents have stop sometimes I have to push myself to do things( I might get a pain and think can’t go in just in case but I just tell myself I can’t let this rule my life ) So I have no regrets now back at work full time started the gym and swimming life pretty good but the stoma then the ileostomy safes my life !!good luck let us know how you get on
Thanks Sarah.
im sorry I’m late I am just back from a cruise where I didn’t use my phone except for photos
Hi NickyP
I was reversed thirteen months after my LAR. As Fraser says the first two weeks or so are little urgent visits to the toilet and I found nights difficult getting to the toilet quickly enough was challenging I had pads, cream a portable bidet everything that I could think of which really helped
I ate a similar diet that I ate when I had my stoma introducing new foods slowly
Good luck with your operation
if there’s anything else you need please ask away
Best wishes
Ann
Hi Ann
Oh, that’s brilliant getting away on a cruise! Hope you had a fabulous time. I just got back from a week away in Lanzarote yesterday-it was very windy!
Sarah xx
