Wendy so sorry your feeling poop i am trying to avoid that as i had chemo yesterday and last time as usual had the steroids thurs an fri then sat and sun was terrible crying non stop very very depressed and hated it. so i have not had my steroids today and think feel more normal for it - bit lethargic but generally me. Also hope it wil stop my crazy appetite i have now put on 11and half pounds (just lost a stone before diagnosed). Was this your first chemo wendy which one are you on i cant remember x stef

Sam your lasagne sounds lovely and sickly bannoffee pie sounds yum too. its not nice to feel so down is it - you just dont need drugs to make you feel so bad that you start having bad thoughts - the crying is normal too over nothing in particular but then you wake up another day and are so glad you feel normal again. Will check out that site sounds good - we will need warm headwear soon definately. x stef

Hi everyone hubby home safe and sound picked him up at 12.30 am and its really good to have him home. Wendy, when I had my MRI my boss who is a radiologist told me not to have to much faith in the results as MRI's have been known to give false positives. I did have suspicious areas in my right breast but a deffinate tumour in the left, my surgeon offered to biopsy the right one, I had already had biopsys done on the left which were positive so I then faced the problem do I have them biopsied and wait for the results or go for a double mastectomy. for me the option was simple, like you said what if its nothing now but then developes into something later. plus I only had small boobs and thought I'd get a boob job out of it. lol
seriously although the surgeon has made a mess of them I don't regret having both removed, and given time and a decent surgeon I think they will look pretty good eventually, I hope. plus no more mammos because I've got nothing to squash. lol
My mum is not overly happy as she had to have emergency surgery to remove a clot the size of a fist from her new boob, after the first op she was so pleased but now after the second surgery she said it looks odd, she is going to see her surgeon tomorrow so fingers crossed she can reassure her that time will sort it out, well I hope so.
She is also going to show her my pictures, and I do hope my dad leaves the room, oh how embarassing is that going to be if I find out my dad saw my boobs. yuk.lol
well jeanie I took you for a G&T kinda girl, but its obviously vodka all the way, enjoy.
good luck all who are having chemo, when I finished mine I went out and had a good meal and plenty of drink, and it was great, so when your nearing the end book yourself a good restaraunt and have the champagne on ice because your all worth it.
    best wishes to you all.

    Evening All

I slept till 8.30. this morning from about 2.30 so that's not too bad. I've had no steroids today and I'm pleased to say I feel fine. I'm not like Tigger on Speed this time round. Hoping tonight will be a normal sleep and if so I'm staying off the steroids. No sign of sickness or nausea either. YIPPEE!!!

Stef, when you are finished turning the front room into a beach resort, let me know. I'll bring my own sun lounger and voddy and we'll have a whale of a time! Hope you are feeling ok without the steroids. Fingers crossed for both of us.

Paula, Chelle and Laila are you all doing alright after your chemo? I do hope so.

Sam, great you are feeling so good. Send me some of that Lasagne if it's too much for you and Karl.

Wendy, it's no wonder that you are feeling weepy. You've had a helluva time. Strangely enough, after a good sob, I usually feel better. I think we tend to store things up too much. I know we are all strong, but sometimes the dark moments come and we've just got to let it out. Don't beat yourself up about it. We'll all get through this together.

Sue, you sound a lot happier now and that is great news. I hope that your Mum gets her booby sorrted out tomorrow. If your Dad sees your boobies I hope he doesn't tell you lol. We fully intend to have a slap up meal after the chemo and before the radiotherapy. There's a bottle of Moet in the fridge just waiting on my taste buds recovering after I get the last chemo in August.

To everyone else I haven't mentioned, I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected. Keep posting girls. I know I get a lot of help, laughs and strength from reading all the posts.

Wish me well for a good , steroid free, sleep tonight!

    Love to you all

It's always so great to come back to this site and see everyone's posts! How about this for a plan? We all go round to Stef's with our bottles of vodka, and eat Sam's yummy food and compare photos of our boobs? Sounds like a sunny evening with good food and drink and adult entertainment!
For all of you having chemo although I don't know what you are going through I am thinking of you.
Sue - thank you for your honest and helpful post and everyone for your encouragement,
speak soon, lots of love xxxxx

Whey hay!!!! Looks like last weeks sad moment was down to the predicted menopause I was warned about. I am now happy as Larry(whoever he is) and had a great day. Chatted to Lorraine and Steff on skype and talked all the girlie stuff away lol.
No metal mouth so made a really hot chilli for dinner followed by trifle and chocolate mousse, maybe later will have cheese and biscuits.
    Jean, are you awake????
    Chelle, are you????
Good news is right boob still hasn't pooped, my white blood cells must be holding out and the nipple which was cosmetically put back on looks perfect, it looks like me again. Hair on my legs growing but not going to shave as I love any hair at the mo lol. xxxxx

    Hello,

Jean glad to hear you got some sleep in the end! I’m not feeling to bad on this chemo, just a little tired. Hope you’re ok too. I am so looking forward to a slap up meal and some bubbly when chemo is over. It sounds like fags, wine and vodka are the key to a healthy life according to your tests lol :-). Hope you sleep well tonight.

Sue your mum’s blood clot sounds awful and so big!! My dads been on a few of my appointments and knows everything about me including all embarrassing things!! After I told my onc I was constipated my dad kept asking for days if I’d managed to go to the loo yet…please dad enough lol!!! Glad your hubby’s home safe and sound.

Stef thanks for your kind words, you’re a real fighter too. Hopefully with this chemo you won’t feel so down, just concentrate on looking forward to your fab weekend away. Don’t worry about gaining weight I’ve been told it’s normal. I’ve gained about a stone!!! You’re right about feeling humbled let’s hope that young girl has a good outcome, very sad.

Sam I hope you avoided a trip to the hospital this afternoon for that jab!! Your lasagne and cheesecake sounds yummy.

Wendy you have every right to feel sorry for yourself. Have a big cry and get a large box of chocolates and you’ll feel much better x

Paula nice to hear you're in high spirits.I had chilli today too but i slipped up and never had any dessert. Now i need something sweet. I’m on the same mission as you... to leave any hair that grows alone (even if it shouldn't be there!!) and to stay awake!!

Sarah thank you so much for your words of encouragement for us ladies going through this hard time. Really glad to hear your mum’s doing well x

Laila well done for reaching your last FEC yippee! That’s one ticked off and bring on Taxotere. I have heard they recommend wearing dark nail polish on some chemo’s to help keep your nails. Bet you’re looking forward to the day you crack open that pink champagne :-)

    Love Chelle x

    Evening all,

Steph - I have my chemo at Macclesfield. Have had some trips to Christie (Hickman line, heart scan etc), but will not have treatment there until radiation. So I guess both hospitals were running very late for chemos yesterday.

Got to sleep about 02.30 last night, woke up quite a few times but not for long each time. Woke up properly at about 6.30 (probably because the alarm was on for 07.00 for having a bit to eat with the steroid tablets. Went back to bed about 07.30 but did not sleep much - watched TV, read papers and slumbered in between, so got up at 11.30. Have felt quite tired all day today. Went to nurse for booster at 15.00. Feel quite tired now so will go to bed in a little while and see if I can go to sleep earlier.

I have not hardly been crying at all about my cancer. I am a very realistic person, so why get myself down over it - it will not help anyway. BUT - I have found that anything moving I watch on tv, hear on radio, talking to people, reading some of your moving posts - tears start rolling at once. Example: Worlds oldest man - last soldier of First World War being buried with military honours. Cried all through the Michael Jacson tribute.
Think this has been developing over the last few years in the menopause but it has certainly accelerated after chemo started!!

Chelle - yes I look forward to that pink champagne after the radiation, but there will be some drinks before that. Going out with my step daughter Coral (42) for a couple of drinks tomorrow.

    Take care all,

    Love, Laila xxxx

    Morning All

    Just to make you smile!

First of all to set the scene. My ops are on my left side. On Wednesday when they took my pre chemo bloods I was left with a huge bruise on the inside of my right arm. Not in the least bit painful, but very visible. Katie and Molly (aged 4 and 3) are too young to understand anything about breast cancer, so they have been told that Granny has a very poorly arm, which is not a lie.

So this morning Molly is here, as Katie is in hospital today having her tonsils and adenoids out!

The first thing she notices is the bruise! “Granny what’s wrong with your other arm?” I explained that the nurse had done it. To which she threw her arms up in the air and said “But they are meant to make you better at the hospital!! Now you got 2 poorly arms!!” She then gave me the biggest hug ever.

    Ain't kids great!

    Love Jean xx
