dear colwynne, welcome to the site, but not for the reason that you are! there are lots of people here willing to help and support you, go to the left hand side of the page and click on cancer types, it will take you to others in a similar situation, good luck with your search! jackie x

To all of the newbies who have recently posted.
Welcome to the site, but so sorry that you even need to be here.
If you want to talk to someone about a specific type of cancer, go to tags at left hand side in green. If the cancer you need info on isn't listed below, click on the word Tags and use the search box. You can also try looking through Groups as there are groups for many different types.
It is a good idea to fill in your profile and a short bio. Its not compulsory, but does help people know you a little and does save repeating yourself. Dont forget to open it to view. You can also read the profiles of people who have put messages on, and click to request them as friend, so that you can private message them.
I hope you all find the support and help you need on here

Hi, I'm another newbie and its a great relief to find people who know what you are going through. Our family has been on a complete emotional roller coaster since Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer and liver secondaries this time last year. He doesn't even look ill and is putting up a terrific fight He has just started his second lot of chemo. He has a fantastic attitude to the whole miserable business which helps us all, but it breaks my heart when mum tells me things like he said he wants to die at home and not in a hospice. Somehow I think we are all shutting out the sad fact that he will die eventually. I know things will get worse for us at some point and we will have to see him looking ill and feeling ill. Can't imagine what that will be like. He will be 70 a year in october and I am desperately hoping that he can make it till then. My thoughts and best wishes go out to all of you facing this difficult journey with your loved one. Keep strong and enjoy what time you have together. It is precious.

Hello, Elaine and welcome to the site for great support, but of course we all wish none of us were here for the reason we are! Have you checked out the threads for bowel cancer, try the 'tag' for bowel on the left of your screen. It will show those threads about it in use, and you will be welcomed onto any in use, I'm sure......do keep posting as well as reading, and think about a short profile open too, it saves you having to repeat yourself and shows folk how to help you too. very best wishes to you

Thanks for your response Gentle Giant. I was feeling very emotional on Wednesday, perhaps a reaction to being strong for everyone else. My husband had has ct scan yesterday it's now just a question of waiting for the hospital to get in touch which will be a week on Monday at the earliest. He has reconciled himself to having his bladder removed and having a urostomy bag, if it's only affecting his bladder as they've graded in the interim as T1 G3. He is struggling with the whole possibility of it being bowel cancer and ending up having to have a colostomy bag. Anyway we are both feeling somewhat brighter today. Will keep you informed of progress, thanks for your thoughts. Good luck to all of you who are struggling as well.

dear clarebub, im so sorry that you have had to come to this site, only for the reason that you are, there are lots of others here that will help and support you, have you tried, creating your own thread? its creating your own topic, with your own headline, it will bring others to you, in a similar situation, they will be able to give you some help on the subject, try that, or clicking on the cancer types, on the left hand side of the page, the way you are feeling right now is natural, good luck in your search, jackie x

Hi Map115...Just a quickie to say i also have got BC...if you read my biography you will see my journey so far...i.v just had my last BCG....now i wait for a biopsy in 6 to 8wks time...mine is a T1/CIS/G2....Have they told you he has to have his bladder out or that it is in his bowel ?......as a ct scan can see how far the cancer as spreap you really should be waiting till its confirmed...i know the waiting is the worst part ...but you need to stay positive....and help each other through this....and i do know what your going through...so my thoughts are with you and i hope the news is good for you when you get it.....we are all here if you need us.....jonboy

My mother has recently been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer which she also has in her adrenal gland.She was also told it was highly possible it had spread to her small intestine,colon and bowel.The tests for those place proved negetive though so that was some good news.I'm not sure what stage the cancer is but assume it's stage 4.I'm not sure where exactly in the lung it is either.Thinking of it,i'm not too sure about anything! I work and by the time i finish the consultans have all left.I have spoken to the nurses on her ward but as they aren't cancer specialists,can only give me general information.
My mum starts her chemo on frididay.She's very positive about it and is determined to fight as hard as she can.The thing that is worrying me the most is she is becoming very confused.I have asked a couple of nurses why this is and they said it's probably a number of reasons rather than anything specific.They did say though that it wasn't due to any medication she was taking.
Sorry if i'm babbling! I'm not really sure what i'm asking for on here,just wanted to get things off my chest.

Hello, Andrew, I would think you are seeking support, which is what this forum is so good at! I'm sorry you have the need to be here though, if only cancer could be cured once and for all time! But since this is still a pipe dream, then you need to think how best to look after both you and your Mum, for you do need to take care of you, too! Cancer involves the whole family, not just the sufferer. Be there for her, seek her help in making a 'memory box' too, for the next generation, talk, laugh, cry together. The confusion could be all sorts of things. If you want more information, think about phoning to speak to her consultant's secretary, they are wonderful at arranging things. I hope your Mum's chemo goes as well as it can, my very best wishes to you
