Here is a link to a review of the use of vitamin D in prostate cancer. There have been a couple of new studies published this year that are very interesting. Everyone with this condition should read this so if you know anyone with prostate cancer send it on to them. There is the link:

    Hi
I'm new here too....part of me wants to be with others in the same situation and part of me wonders what the heck I'm doing here? This isn't where I should be...it won't happen to me. Sadly however life has caught up with me and my Mum is now unwell and awaiting treatment. She's 82, an older lady, but still my Mum. Last month we were all at my daughter's perfect wedding and so happy, this month....I don't know where we are. Sorry for the rambling....just thinking through type I guess

    Hi A,
So sorry to hear about your grandad, my grandma is also suffering from cancer, and is unfortunately in the very last stages of it.
I found this site very helpful and received some really helpful posts from people, which have helped me so much. I find it hard to talk to my family as i dont find that it is important for people to hear my worries, but this site let me tell people how i feel. Basically what im saying in a rambling way is this site has helped me a lot and i hope it can do the same for you!
    Hope all is well

My Dad was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer 2 weeks ago. He was admitted to hospital on the day of the endoscopy as he could barely swallow. He has been in hospital since then being fed through a tube. I realise that it is still early days, but we feel as though we have been on something of a roller coaster since then. We have been told that the tumour is mainly confined to the oesophagus but there are signs of it spreading to the lymph nodes. Surgery is not an option as we are told the tumour is too long. Yesterday he was taken to have a stent fitted to enable him to swallow something, but they couldn't get it in. The nurse last night told me that they will try again guiding it by X ray instead of endoscope. Although we ask about chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy we don't get much of a response. We are all so frightened about what the future holds.
I would welcome replies from all, but especially people who have found themselves in a similar position

    Hi ecs,
I have been through what your Dad is going through at the moment, I also had my stent fitted at the second attempt. If you read my profile you will see what I went through. I have had Chemo and am seeing my oncologist on Monday with a view to surgery. If I can help in any way please contact me, also you may find useful is the thread "Surviving oscophigal cancer" further down the page.
