Hi

Has anyone got any advice / top tips?

I am stage 4 and suffer a bit from Cancer Related Fatigue, I am still working (Part time now) and took up Park Run about 18 months ago to try and maintain some level of exercise.

At first, the 5Km jog really took its toll and often I would return home on a Saturday morning and sleep most of Saturday and some of Sunday. It has got better over the last 18 months and the recovery time is much better now :-) The Park Runs time have improved as well :-)

However on most runs (80 to 90%) I hit a wall at about 3km, it is a real effort to keep going and not stop, but my pace drops off to about 60% of normal speed.

I hydrate well the day before and morning of Park Run, I warm up well and do some gentle stretching etc - Is it just pot luck if CRF crushes my Park Run or is there anything else I can do.

Any advice? ty :-)

  • Hi

I count myself very lucky not to have suffered with this but I can see that it must be a horrible side effect.

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
