Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally. In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.
Today has been quite low key. I have felt not too bad but got incredably cold tonight. I went to surgery and had my flue jab and whilst I was there I managed to get them to mot my ears as well so I can now hear a bit better (dont tell Linda, its handy having selective hearing). Then we done a small amount of food shopping before I hoovered out the 2 cars. After lunch I dont really remember too much so I guess ive slept most of it. Now I have warmed up a bit I shall go and join Linda in bed and hopefully get some sleep. Linda has altered my tablets again to cope with my ever changing symptons. I hope you all have a pleasant weekend. I start my 10th cycle of Sutent on Monday, or is it 9, not sure, any I start again on Monday so here we go again!!
Hi Bob and all your other "postees". Hope we all have a good new year. Starting my 5th Sutent package in 10 days. Tolerating it well I suppose but tired; eating well but still seem to be loosing weight. Doctor has just put me on a short course of Steriods because I have gout. No, it's not a rich mans prerogative. I am a poor alcohol free woman. Well! I do have a cap full of brandy in my horlicks at night. So steriods are keeping me awake which is why I am talking to you. As you know from reading my Diary, tiredness is one of my biggest enemies along with all the other bits and pieces that goes with it. I start my ninth Cycle on Monday and like you, am coping pretty good. You will always have your off days but it does become easier with time, probably because im getting used to the side effects. I am hoping for another low key day today, I plan to take down the tree, cards have already gone and then not too much more. I plan to go to work on Tuesday, all being well as its been a couple of weeks since I have been in.
Hiya All, Glad to hear all is well with everyone, what you like Bob hoovering out TWO cars it takes me all my time to hoover the lounge and then i collapse for 5 mins to get my breath back. Feeling not to bad though at the moment, i go back to the hos on the 13th for my tablets etc so ill have had a three week break again off them , i dont know weather thats because my red blood cells are depleting so much or it was a mistake by the reception girl. Wll once again im addicted to BB, i think they have a really good crowd this time, i think ill be watching it in bed at 12 as there is a party going on next door and i wont be able to sleep. Im going to Jons tomorrow till tuesday so have a nice weekend and ill catch up with you all next week. Take Care love Fay. X

What you like Bob hoovering TWO cars it takes me all my time to hoover the lounge and then i collapse needing a oxegen tank, good on ya anyway. Im not feeling to bad at the moment i will have had 3 weeks off Sutent by the time i go to the hos on the 13th i dint know if its a mistake or because Sutent is affecting my red blood cells so much. Well once again im addicted to BB and i think ill be watching it in bed shortly as next doodr are having a party and i wont be able to sleep the music is blasting. Im off to Jons till tuesday so ill catch up with you all next week. Take care and have a good weekend whats left of it, Love Fay X

Glad your feeling a bit better Fay, Yes I did manage to clean the 2 cars but I did pay for it in terms of tiredness. I was rather walloped but pleased that I achieved what I achieved. Every so often I seem to be able to have a mad day and achieve loads but those days do sem to be few and far between at the moment. I think for me its partly down to the time of year and the cold damp weather and also down to this fluey cold ive had and the knock on effect. Im hoping now that ive had my flue jab i wont get it as bad. Do you find Fay that you feel better during your time off the Sutent as I tend to find it makes little difference to me. I can take the Sutent and feel either really good or sometimes not so good and this can also happen during my time off the sutent. I used to have a regular pattern of good and bad weeks where as now it seems more random. I think today we are off to a furniture warehouse where they sell off discontinued lines from the top brand shops. Yesteday Linda had a mad moment changing the lounge around and we could do with a fireside chair so I can sit on it in the evining. Linda could light the fire, bring my slippers, bring me supper and attend to my every whim whilst I warm my tootsies, ok I had better stop dreaming. Back to reality, wheres the hoover??
Well the afternoon went well. we had a look round the warehouse but it is in the early stage of being developed and We have more furniture in our garage than they had on show. Once we got home, Tom and Katie were round to show us the finished wedding invitation and what a good job they have done of them. tonight has been a restfull affair, although saddened by the news of Kiwi Annes death. what a sad start to 2009.
