Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Ive had another good day today. After awaking I took molls for a long walk before myself, Linda kate and her friend popped into Cambridge to peruse the sales. Linda found me a couple of shirts which is always good. Kates friend chloe spent most of the day round which was great for Kate. The wii was put to good use again. Then in the afternoon Tom and Katie came back round on our invite as we had so much food to eat and were not sure how we were going to get through it all.. Tonight I have spent a bit of time on the old computer catching up on other peoples threads before settling down, after Kate had gone to bed, to watch Jurrassic park. I feel ok although the tiredness has been a bit worse today. Yesterday I kept awake all day so im not supprised to have had to sleep today. Tomorrow I am in to work for a few hours as one of my customers is having some aircon maintenance done over the next 2-3 days so I need to be on standby. I still have the rather annoying cough but that seem to be all that is left of the old bug, so im pleased about that. This morning I also built Kate a little desk in m y study so she can spend time in here with me. I would like to think, when I am gone this room, probably my favorite room of the house will be used by Kate and everyone else as a sort of work room, a room where they can find peace and sollace. and a room to reflect, especially for Kate. I really have to get things right so when I die she can still live here without fear. The roomm is filled with my memorabelia and I hope it will be a constant reminder to all that use the room. I have one more week off the Sutent then Im start again for another four weeks. We were looking at the cruise pamphlets and I hope we will be strong enoughto book one in tyhe real hope that I will still be around to enjoy it. I am also starting to get my best mans speech for Tom and Kates wedding sorted in my head. I would like to get it written so , I am prepared but also if I do not for some reason make the wedding it could still be read out. All the kids mean so, so much to me and its really important to me that they hear me say it.

    Hi Bob and Pam,
Glad to hear you had a good christmas Pam and that you are coping with life im sure thats what your Mum would have wanted, Look after yourself.
You sounded as though you had a great time also Bob and what a good idea getting the Wii as a family pressy it sounded as though you had a great time playing golf and bowls, apparently they are very good for you as in fun exercise, my daughter told me they have them in old peoples home for the exercise. Its so nice to hear you able to get around the way you do, Sutent dosent seem to affect your blood the way it does mine which is great for you, i really miss taking my dod for a walk.

I had a really good time over christmas all my family were here and one of my sons stayed a couple of days. Christmas day was really good we all ate too much laughed a lot although i got very emotional as you cant stop your mind working overtime as to what will be next year, hopefully ill be doing this again on your thread. We had a afternoon nap ready for the soaps on the tv in the evening sad eh. Then on boxing day all the family came again plus my sister so there was a lot of remenising and good belly laughes again then we decided to get a Indian take a way from a new shop around the corner which was lovely and with the flavours being strong i was able to taste the flavour as aposed to it being cardboardy.
I made a sherry trifle for boxing day and put half a bottle in it was lovely and after a couple of snowballs that was me falling asleep, but i stayed awake but slept untill 11.30 the day after which is not like me then i couldent sleep last night which has upset my system today, never mind i enjoyed it and its only once a year.
Well that me ready for bed now so i hope this message finds you all as happy and well as you can be, Take care Love Fay. X

Im well and truly in Lindas bad books tonight. I went into work at 08.30 this morning and did not come home until nearly 10 hrs later. Well its not as if I have been busy, just sitting on a chair project managing a job. The guy worked a bit late as he did not really want to go back tomorrow but , needless to say he must. I have organised someone else for tomorrows shift as Linda would have exploded if I went in for another day. I actually feel not bad today and have eaten a hearty tea since getting home. Time to now relax with wifey

I can understand Linda being angry but its only because she has your welfare to think about, i myself would be quite chuffed with myself as theres something about doing normal things that gives a buzz, do you agree? I have accepted linda as my friend, thank you.
Ive had a quiet day today, my sister came to see me tonight, which was nice, we watched a programe about that man / woman who had a baby ? only in America eh
Well im of to bed now, take care Love Fay, X
