Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Bob had a good day at work, but paying the price now as very tired and tucked up in bed. His appetite is not good, but that's usual for this time of his Sutent cycle. The worst thing for him is that he feels constantly cold, and knows even if he eats anything its not going to stay put for long.

Kate has a friend sleeping over so is fairly okay tonight. We have a busy weekend planed so she will be kept occupied.

My Dad has got his official results following his recent surgery and now has his cancer diagnosis, he is to have further test to decide the best course of treatment, if any. It is a slow growing rare cancer, but they are unsure how long or if it has spread elsewhere until further tests are carried out.

Luckily i was at the house with them at the time, as they received the results by phone, something they were not expecting. He is recovering really well from his recent surgery, and every day looks a little better.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Love Linda x x

I have had a better day thanks Mary.

The weather here has been really good and for a good part of it I spent time in the garden. After a good nights sleep I awoke, not too early and decided the first job was to cut the grass. I did do it but I must admit I did struggle. Once it was done though I did admire it from a deckchair in the sun. Kate had a friend round to sleep last night so Linda took them both in to Cambridge for a bit. As Tom and Katie and also some other friends, as well as my sister are round tonight, we did a bar-b-q which was really nice. As Tom and Katie were sorting their wedding album, I was chief cook and really enjoyed it. Im really feeling the cold again though and am now indoors with the heating full on. My appetite is still terrible, I managed a burger but regretted eating it as soon as I had finished it. Im now feeling a tad sick and just hoping things will stay put, we will see

A bit of a nag, don't make me laugh, all you girlie's are like that lol. I slept really well last night but that didn't stop me feeling really tired all day. I stayed in bed until half ten, then really only came downstairs and lay on the sofa for the rest of the day. Linda's mum and dad popped round and Linda's dad is doing ok. her  mum is driving us all bloody crazy with her self pitying ways. She seems to think life revolves around her and everyone else has to fit in with it. I have absolutely no patience with her. Linda is nearly at the end of her tether with it all and I just wish I could make things a little easier for her. My appetite has been awful again today. All I have had all day is a chicken sandwich and a Complan. I am loosing weight now and I do not like it one bit. I hope its a temporary blip with the usual break in Sutent being filled with the radiotherapy. I'm not sure whether I will get to work in the morning, I have been popping Loperamide all day in an effort to settle things down and as from about two o'clock, things have been a bit more settled. Looking at things positively my Tinnitus is a bit better and I have had no more "clamping" of the hands so hopefully some good is going on and the tiredness and the rest of it is what I need to go through to get a reasonable end result. lets see what tomorrow brings eh.
