Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Thanks Kate and everyone else for your sponsorship, This site alone has raised £140.00. Brilliant, my Kate is well chuffed.

I have had a good day today. After a good nights sleep, I walked Mollie before being Taken to Tom and Katies. Whist over there I put up a new light fitting for them, fixed a patio door, helped tom build a small greenhouse and did a couple of other electrical jobs. I was a bit knackered at that point so rested up, giving Tom instructions on how to set seeds. Now home im resting up as I am planning to go to work tomorrow to try and sort my future hours out. If they dont play ball I will be playing my ace card, Disability discrimination. I know I could land them in all sorts of trouble, but as I want to carry on working , this will be a last resort.

  • Hmm, Sir Bob, having a rest, eh? Taking it easy? Hahaha! (you can't keep a good man down!)

love and hugs to you and your family

Bob had a good day at work, but now tired and would you believe broke both his glasses now,  hence me typing for him,  also just done his eye drops so even worse than usual!

i think he  had a useful conversation with HR Department , so seems happy with that for the moment.

Since home he has walked dog, but has now retired to bed, as in his words he is 'done in'

    Linda x

  • Lady Linda, I'm not surprised he is 'done in'.....hope he has a really good rest.......love and hugs to you all

Thanks Mary, I did have a good nights rest. This morning we took the car for a service but after a bit of a mix up we have rebooked it for next week as we were in danger of sitting in the garage all day. Poor Linda has a heavy cold so really did not want to be sitting there all day. We popped in to town on the way home and i got both my pairs of glasses repaired so that was a good result. feel a bit tired and sicky tonight but hopefully will be better for work tomorrow. I must admit I have felt better but hope things will improve soon, we will see.

  • Just popped in to se your post, m'Lord.......glad to see you posting, but do take it just a tiny bit easier! Linda needs you to be fit to look after her and get that cold better! Seriously, love and hugs to you all
