Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

    Hi Bob,
What a beautiful photo of you and your daughter, she's a very pretty girl and you must be so proud of her.I've sent my donation. Were you poorly when that photo was taken as you look very well.
Well i thought i'd be saying bye for a while tonight as we were suppose to be going on our travels tomorrow BUT, Jon phoned the garage to see if the motor home was ready and the idiot hasent even started it. Jon took it there as requested at 8.30am monday morning and he was told it will be ready in 4 days, and to top it all he was swearing at Jon and telling him to take it somewhere else. Anyway he said it will be ready for Saturday morning so im keeping my fingers crossed.
We are not touring Scotland now because of the petrol strike so we are touring Cornwall which should be just as nice, as there is a lot of Cornwall i havent seen.I dont know if you can post photo's on this site but ill see and send a holiday one when we get back.
Take good care of youself Bob, regards To Linda and Katy , Fay

Hi Fay What a bummer about your motor vehicle, hopefully you will still get away on Saturday. I bet Jon was mad, I would have been. Cornwall is lovely and the weather will be better down south so I don't think you will be disappointed. I suspect when my photo was taken I was ill without realising it. I was at the really tired stage as I had been for some time. I think my Cancer was very slow growing and had been going on for a long time. I remember a couple of years ago going to the doctors because I felt so tired and all she said was to take a walk each day to wake myself up. If only it was that easy. I have seen other people post pictures on this site but I don't know how to do it (help anyone) Hopefully someone will reply to this thread and then we will both know. I was even thinking of setting up a Web page where we could all [post our photos. What do you think? By the way, many thanks for your donation. your right, she is a lovely girl and very pretty( takes after her mum) I certainly am most proud of her

Anyway have a good weekend and take care + lots of piccys

    Hi early birds everywhere,

hope you have a great hols Fay when you can eventually get away. I have very fond memories of scotland for holidays but have never been to cornwall - opposite to you almost !

Just thought I would let you know Bob that I am now back on the Sutent from today after the oncology review yesterday. The Doc is pleased with the overall progress and the various other infections etc going away. So I am really please and now am back in the fight. I mentioned the hair colour changes we have had and he has asked me to send him any pictures as they were not aware of this a spossible side effects so I will do that for him.

I think we all have itchy feet for a holiday at the moment and I am now going to get on with this and get something sorted.

Your photo with your daughter is great and, yes, it would be gpood to find out out we can post pics on this sits as aI have no idea either.

Anyway, have a great day and all the best to you and yours,

Same wishes to you Fay and Caherty,

    All the best

    Andrew

    Hi Bob And Andy,
Great news the garage has just phoned to say the motorhome is ready, we were really shocked as he said in the beginnining it would take 4 days, must have been Jon's plea as he mentioned me.
Anyway i dont know weather we are going today or tomorrow OOOOOHHHHH im all excited, so i wanted to do the message quickly just incase i dont get time later. We have shopping to do load it all up, clothes ect, fill the water tank and sort out both our homes before we go,( Jon has his own place but since ive been ill he 's staying here with me.)Oh and Jon has to fit a new gas cooker for my daughter Joanne when it arrives today
The web site sounds a good idea Bob, im not very computer literate other than my emails and Ebay (which is the exciting part of my life at the moment, sad eh)
Well ill say bye for now and if you dont hear from me were off on our travels. So you all take good care of
yourselves (including Catherty)And i hope if there is any news to be had i hope its good news.

Yesterday we went "bomb hunting". yes you've guessed it Felixstowe. Its quite amazing that they had this huge bomb on the beach ready to blow but know they have "lost it". The weather was really quite good, in fact nearly shorts weather but not quite. I'm sure the people of Felixstowe were quite relieved that my legs stayed under cover. I thought i might go for a dip in the sea but i didn't want Greenpiece to throw me further in thinking I was a whale. We went to a sea front resteraunt and had fresh cod and chips which tasted like no other. Once home, on went the shorts and I layed on the grass for an hour .Today we have popped into Cambridge to pick up a couple of bits and then for lunch at our local garden centre. Now Linda and Kate are both putting photos into scrap books and albums. I was going to cat nap in the garden but I think my legs have scared off the sun for a few days so I will have to settle for the sofa.

    Hi Bob and Andy
Hi guys, surprise surprise were still here in sunny Manchester not really its been raining all day.
Well to say were dissapointed is putting it lightly as we have a slight problem. We spent all day saturday getting the motorhome ready with the view to leaving first thing Sunday morning but as Jon was putting ties in the wheel trims he checked the welding that had been done and noticed a problem with the drive shaft so much so its not safe to drive, The annoying thing is this should have been noticed when it was recently M.O.T, anyway as most things when they go wrong the shops are closed or in this case the garage so Jon is going first thing Monday morning to see if they can fix it. So at this moment in time we dont know when we are going.
Sounds like you had a good day today, that must have been strange a bomb on the beach. Jon and I went to Blackpool to see the ship that had ran aground a couple of months ago, it looked so sad just lay on its side now i believe its salvage.
Ive been watching aa film today of some old 60ties 8mm film i had put on the DVD, its what my Dad took , it was really strange seeing my Mum and Dad again as they died some years ago but there was also footage of me and my first son when he was a baby, it was quite emotional viewing.
Right thats about all my news for today, Im hoping we can set off tomorrow if the van gets fixed so if you dont hear from me weve gone,
    .
Thanks for your best wishes, Take care Fay.
