Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Oh Bob, sorry to hear about your day yesterday. You would think the woman with her questionnaire would have taken the hint... I hope that you are comfortable in bed though and I am sure Linda will not be able to keep you there for very long. PLEASE try and take it easy...!! Lots of love x x

    Thanks all for your messages,

I spent the majority of the day in bed before surfacing after lunchtime. Having reflection on Fridays eventfull day I will be more carefull in respect of not overdoing it and although not sometimes feeling like it , eating better. My appertite is all over the place and I have to sometimes force myself to eat. Linda and Kate have gone to a sugerbabes concert so Tom and Katie are looking after me and I have given Tom my pin number and sent him to the takeaway for a selection in the hope something will exite my taste buds. My face is less swollen and grazes are healing quite well. I feel a bit of a plonker but there you go.

A bit of a strange day today, I awoke after a fair nights sleep but I fear still suffering the effects of a bang to the head. The day has been a bit of a blur. Last night Tommy and Katie came over and we ate and watched TV until Linda and Kate came home quite late. This morning Justin, Matt and girlfriend and children came over and Tom did another barb-b--q before I was pushed in my wheelchair, under duress, to the local park. Once home I slept and once awoke avyone had gone home so dont really know what happened there. I have just taken paracetamol and no doubt will soon be in bed sleeping again. I will be so glad to be passed this phase and feeling more mobile again but realise I must take things slowly.

it's been a hard day for you - but you've been strong & got through it & enjoyed it where you could. And that's the most important thing - wishing you well.
