Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Thanks for all our messages once again.  Kate is now on her trip and we are packed ready to set off later tomorrow.  Tonight myself and Justin went down to the local pub for a pie and a pint as he will be house sitting. Can you be over the limit driving a mobility scooter. really tired tonight but part of that is probably alcoholic poisoning.

    Sir Bob and Lady Linda

I'm so pleased to hear that you are picking up and doing things again.  Bob - you and my other half make a good pair with your 'thing' about cutting the lawns.  Alan would have made a good green-keeper at Wimbledon or Lords!!!!  Trouble is the daisies are now winning on our lawn - I like that....but he doesn't!!!!

Enjoy your few days in peaceful surroundings.......You both deserve a break.  I hope the weather stays good for you all....... Kate too

Love and (((hugs))) to you all

Glad im not the only one with a fetish for keeping the lawn cut Dot.

We have not long returned from our Norfolk break. We have had a wonderful time. In fact we stayed an extra day, originally planning to come home yesterday. The weather has been brilliant. We spent time in Sheringham and Cromer and the hotel we booked on the internet was great. We did upgrade to a larger room and it had a lovely sea view. I managed to get pictures of sunrise and sun set which was lovely. We have done a huge amount of walking, when I say we, Linda has pushed me miles. everywhere you went involved a trek up or down hill and Linda was brilliant, taking me everywhere I wanted to go. Thank you my darling for just being you and making the week special. We have eaten really well, the hotel food was good and also did not seem to understand the meaning of small portions. Cromer crab was definitely my favourite.

We now have a while to wait until Kate returns from her school trip from Kingswood. Hopefully she has also had a brilliant time.

    Dear Bob

So glad you enjoyed your trip to Norfolk.  We stayed in a farm cottage a couple of years ago not far from Cromer, so your comments have brought me some lovely memories.  People think Norfolk is totally flat - but it isn't........though I think you only really find out when you have to push a wheelchair!!!!!  All that lovely sea air will have done your appetite a lot of good.........

I do so hope that Kate has had as good a time as you both have.....

Love and ((((hugs)))) to you all
