Hi, My name is Bob and I live in Cambridgeshire. I am married with an 8 yr old daughter and three older step sons. Up untill the end of last year everything was tickety boo having recently moved to a new house which we love. Work was busy but enjoyable. I am Manager of an electrical companys maintenance department and my Wife, Linda was enjoying her job as a Nurse. The three boys are buying there own house nearby and all work locally.
In November I went to my Doctors with a small "cyst" on my chest. After a couple of referals and many Xrays, pet scans, bone scans and CT scans I was told the news everybody dreads. My lump on the chest was a secondary cancer of which the primary was in my left Kidney. I was fast tracked to the Royal Brompton, under the expert care of Mr Laddas who informed a long and complicated operation would need to be carried out to remove the bone tumor and surrounding bone which involved two ribs,my collar bone and chest bone. I did not have time to panic, the operation was carried out the next day over 10 hrs. After nearly two weeks in the Brompton I am recovering well from this op but I have since been told that the Cancer is in both kidneys as well as small mets in both lungs. It seems at the moment further ops are out the question and i have been put on the drug Sutent. I am one week into this and so far so good. I do not know what the future holds but I have to remain positive.

Slept really well for the first half of the night but woke really early so not a lot gained there. I feel ok though and am going into work again soon for the last time this week. Its another glorious day and I have walked Mollie and fed the Moggies. Mollies getting a bit overweight so she is on a bit of a diet, which she does not take very kindly to.
second Sutent of second week of second phase. All seems reasonably normal still with no drastic colour changes or taste changes. Fatigue still under control (which is more than I can say for my bowels lol)

    Hi Bob

I've had a good day today went to the zoo with my dog! cotswold wildlife park well worth a visit and allows dogs on leads! We've been before, but each time it's such a joy to visit! Of course the sunshine made it all the better. So easy to forget your worries when distracted! I'm sure Kate would love it if you find the time to visit one day assuming you've not been yet.

Another weird question for you regarding sutent, how are your gums and teeth? a new posting on another forum I follow says a guy who's been on sutent now for 26cycles is getting receeding gums and loose teeth? scary! I must admit to have been checking my gums more since I read it!

I'm now starting wk 3 of cycle 5 of sutent and the sore throat is kicking in but not too bad. Shortness of breath seems to kick in around now too so we took the wheelchair today but I managed to push it most of the time as opposed to sitting in it.

My friend online Jane who's blog I follow, had some good news too, she had thought she needed an op on her femur due to mets, but has found out she can have radiotherapy and zometa bone infusion instead so can remain on sutent which is most important to her due to the aggresiveness of her tumours. So all in all a good day, hope your day was good?

    Jackie.

    Hi Jackie

regarding the loose teeth I havn't had any great prolems. I have one tooth which is loose but is an ongoing problem ( I twisted it after chewing a toffee and hasn.t been right since)

Im only on my second week of phase two first cycle but already my good looks are begining to fade. My tan is fast dissapearing and being replaced by a sickly yellow which is the norm for me. Some of my joints are also beginning to ache. so the camelion is back.
A good day at work today and once home, managed to walk the dog and cut all the grass. I put Kate to bed earlier and she will insist on reading me passages from the bible, I hope she doesn't know something I don't.

    Hi all

Im rather frustrated with this site right now and wish they could have left well alone as what they have done is not as easy as it used to be. Im sure , in time, we will all get used to it.

I have had a fair week although because my memory is so bad and we were chucked out for so long I cannot remember too much of it. The Sutent is really kicking in and I feel really tired, achy joints and bright yellow, not a pretty site. My appertite is not as good as it was although I am still managing one good meal a day. I really struggled at work this week but I did three part days. I am hopeing to hit the decorating for a bit today as my helpers are all comming over. I hope I find you all well and hope you find your way to my blog

  • Hello, Bob, I too am finding this hard to get around, wish there were more similarities with the old Share site!

My profile from Share seems to have disappeared, but as I had already written a blog on What now, am not too bothered.......ah well, onwards and upwards........just wish instead of having to scroll down on some of the threads, you could chose to go to wherever at the top! At present, one can only get to the last posting by scrolling down and then clicking 'last'
