Hello,

I am hoping someone out there may be able to help me.

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 27. Long story short I have purchased my first house and can not find anywhere that will insure new for breast cancer because of my sister having it and being an immediate family member.

I can’t be the only person who has been in this situation before. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me and could possibly signpost me to an insurance company who would cover me for breast cancer despite my sisters cancer history.

She is doing amazing by the way!

Many thanks in advance!

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm glad to hear that your sister is doing really well after being diagnosed with breast cancer but I'm sorry to hear that you're finding it hard to get insurance because of this.

I've found the following information from Macmillan regarding insurance:

"An insurer broker or financial adviser can help you compare insurance plans from different providers. When you are choosing a broker or adviser, always check that they are reliable and trustworthy. The British Insurance Broker’s association has a list of brokers. You can call them on 0370 950 1790, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

If you have further questions about insurance plans, you can call the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 and speak to our financial guides team."

    I hope this helps
