Hi just been diagnosed with cancer but not yet know how far it has spread. I’m playing the waiting game for results now. I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips/advice on how to deal with the trauma of diagnosis?
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm very sorry to hear that you've just been diagnosed with cancer. Waiting for further results and your treatment plan can be a very worrying time and everyone has their own method for coping. Me, I threw myself into my hobbies because while I was concentrating on doing something nice I didn't think about cancer.
Lots of people use mindfulness aps and this link will take you to the NHS page with recommendations to download, some of which are free.
I can see that you have joined the cervical cancer group and I'm sure if you post in that group the ladies there will be able to help you further. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Thank you. I’m feeling very down today. Taken morphine all night and now feeling a bit queasy this morning. I guess I’m also in shock. I’ve got so many things going through my mind. Having to push myself to do anything. X
Hi
I'm sorry to hear how down you're feeling this morning. You're still in the very early stages of diagnosis and it will take some time to come to terms with it.
Please do post in the cervical cancer group, which I can see you've joined, as there's nothing like talking to others with the same diagnosis.
