Although my cancer wasn't the same as your husband's my results were also delayed, in my case it was because the pathology labs were fully stretched meaning it was taking longer than normal for biopsies to be looked at.
It would probably be a good idea to also post this question in the bowel cancer group, which I can see you're a member of, as the folks over there are more likely to know if this is common with that type of cancer. Clicking on the link I've created will take you straight back there.
