My Husband Peter was told he has got kidney cancer in August 2025.
He was told the care he will be getting is Palliative in September 2025. It was a huge shock for us both.
Hi Cardmaker
Sorry to hear about your husband, I am Steve one of the community champions and my expereince of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma. Her cancer was not curable at diagnosis but with two different rounds of chemotherapy the doctors managed to render her cancer stable, we have been that way for over 10 years now. As Janice says living with cancer rather than any alternative.
When we first got the diagnosis I thought that pattliative care was a death sentence but now I am aware of the deeper meaning as we can see here.
Janice was clear she never wanted a prognosis and at the start I struggled with that. I don't think anyone could have guessed how well she would do though. I ended up doing a living with less stress course that really helped me.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi Steve. Thank you for your kind message.
It is good I can chat with someone who understands how I am feeling. Life can be very difficult at times. My Husband and I are both disabled. We have got nurses coming into to see me from the hospice community team, a long with other members of their team.
