Hi there, so my mum recently had a lumpectomy for stage 3 breast cancer. She is due to start 16 weeks of chemo and then radiation. We have had an extremely tough time of it the last 4 years. My nanny had womb cancer and had an op, then my mum had thyroid cancer and had a thyroidectomy which has left her extremely fatigued, unable to work and on many medications. Following that my nanny had lung and bone cancer which spread to her brain and we lost her in November 2024. Now for mum to have cancer again is overwhelming. I have just finished a 4 year part time university degree. I am due to begin my final teaching qualification in September whilst working at the same time. I am an only child and we have a small family. I am unsure whether to postpone my teaching qualification for a year to look after her. I'm also worried as I work with 4 and 5 year old children that I may bring home all the bugs of the day to her. I would love to take a year out of work but I have just bought my nanny's house and that wouldn't work financially for me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
