First ever post about all this cancer chaos so please bear with me I am 29 years old and feel so alone sometimes:
Dad went to a&e 3 years ago for upper leg pain, few tests later they discovered a large tumour (rare sarcoma) - the tumour was successfully removed with a surgery that replaced a chunk of his thigh bone and knee with metal. Tests however showed that the cancer had already travelled to his lungs, the cancer was growing and the decision was made to do chemo he completed his first lot of chemo six months ago and it went better than expected, the tumour growth rate is slower but they want to do another type of chemo again after christmas.
In the meantime my partner's dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer and receive radiotherapy, however cancer has spread to his spine and he is now paralysed from the chest down and confined to a bed, we do not have a fantastic relationship with him so the situation is tricky.
If you have read this far thank you, I hope by talking about some of my story I can connect with people who understand how emotionally and mentally draining this can all be - if anyone has any advice on juggling all the thoughts and feelings I am all ears!
Hi Circe
Welcome to our community, hope you find it useful.
My wife has Leiomyosarcoma, the primary probably removed when she had a hysterectomy but it spread to her lungs. She had two lots of chemotherapy and that seems to have put her cancer to sleep, she says it does not bother me and I do not bother it and just been getting on with life for over 10 years now with of course the occasional trips to the oncologist.
That feeling on loneliness is something that comes up often on here. We all know how common a cancer diagnosis is but often not the greatest subject over a cup of coffee - though had some great chats at my local Maggies. There is quite a good blog on loneliness and cancer here that might be useful and of course you are welcome to post on here anytime.
<<hugs>>
Steve
