Hi everyone
my dad was diagnosed with SCLC in December 2022 and was told he would have weeks to live if he had no treatment and 6 to 9 months with treatment. He had 4 courses of palliative chemotherapy to ease his symptoms but to be honest, his symptoms are worse. He was so ill that the oncologist decided not to proceed with radiotherapy and admitted him into hospital because of his oxygen saturation (87%). He has had a litre of fluid drained from his pleural space and it still hasn't helped with this breathing. He's been tested for blood clots on his lung but his breathing just doesn't improve.
I can see him going downhill every day and it's a nightmare to watch him suffering, he isn't eating and drinking very little. He needs a wheelchair as he has no energy, not even to get up our of the chair, I think he has given up.
Sorry to moan and be so negative but i just needed to explain his situation or i'd go crazy with worry.
Thanks for listening x
Hi Winnie6667
I am glad you found us to share, we can only really notice your pain and stand beside you though I do not see any moaning or negativity just a new friend suffering in what anyone would find a really difficult position.
Thinking of you.
<<hugs>>
Steve
