My mum doesn’t deal with emotions well and it’s taking a toll on me a bit, and I’d love to find a way to help my Mum but I have no idea how she feels after all this treatment. Can anyone help me?
Hi ,
Sorry to hear about what is happening to you. The mental health issues around cancer can be very challenging and at the moment add in covid to the mix and things can get even more difficult.
You talk about after treatment so I wonder if it my help to look at our pages here that are of course more focused on the patient.
Some patients can get quite concerned that friend and family will define them by their cancer and ignore the rest of them. When Janice had chemotherapy I was often pleasantly surprised at how positive everyone was - and we talked a little bit about cancer but also found out a bit about others lives and generally put the world to rights.
For you it might help to look at Your feelings when someone has cancer, I know I had to learn to deal with my own emotions and make sure I got a break if I was to be any use to anyone.
<<hugs>>
Steve
