My son in law had Covid in January and following that he had constant excruciating stomach pain, his doctor sent him for an endoscopy and colonoscopy . They said all he had was a small hernia ! . My daughter has health insurance with her job and she asked if he could be added to the policy , thankfully this was allowed and he went for a CT scan last Monday morning. The consultant called him and my daughter back to the hospital the same afternoon and they were told it was pancreatic cancer , the bottom fell out of their world. Last Saturday he saw his consultant again and told that the tumour was attached to two main blood and it was doubtful they could operate . He now has to have another endoscopy to take biopsies then they will discuss treatment options if any were possible. My daughter is clinging to the hope that treatment will be given and he will be with her and their daughter for as many years as possible.
My sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March 2013 she lived for 10 days after the diagnosis, I know this is in my daughters mind but she is doing her best to be positive for him and their daughter . Cancer is a cruel insidious condition , my sisters husband passed away last May from prostrate cancer and their daughter who was 40 in April also has terminal cancer I am also trying to help her cope with the loss of her husband and the eventual death of her daughter .
Life is not fair
Hi
Sorry to read about how cancer has affected your family, fingers crossed for treatment options for your son-in-law though the positive news that it was picked up a bit earlier than might have been the case otherwise.
How old is their daughter and is she aware of the diagnosis? The idea of mainlining a positive attitude is good but is sometimes easier to say than to do.
<<hugs>>
Steve
