Spread all over her liver and more I think. Was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago. Now she has all over severe itching of the skin. Very swollen belly. Yellow whites of eyes and skin. Does this mean now she doesn’t have long to live. Is this the end stage starting. Please help me with this.  My sister finds it difficult to talk about. Can’t visit her because of this lockdown. She lives in Scotland. I live in Yorkshire. I need to know what happens next at this stage. She is having another treatment. Chemo by tablet form. Not working. I think they are running out of options now to keep the cancer at bay. Please does anyone know what there is for me to do.

Hi Snowdrops61 welcome to the forum.I am so sorry to hear about how things are for you and your sister.

Im not sure what you can do except be there for your sister as and when she wants or needs you to be. Its difficult if she doesnt feel able to talk about things does she have a partner that you could chat with about things or not? This could just be a period where she needs medical intervention and she can start to feel a little better.

Im wondering if you might like to ask your question in the Ask a Nurse section of the site as they may be able to give you more information.

Sorry not to have been of more help for you. Thinking of you all.x

Thank you for your reply. She’s now in hospital. For scans bloods and everything else. They have withdrawn her 4th different chemo treatment cause not working. Hopefully they will at least make her comfortable. I just want to know how long she has left at this stage. No one can give me an answer. I just need someone to be honest with me and tell me. The waiting is agony. I might ask the nurse on this site as you suggest as because we all know getting to see a nurse nowadays is impossible. No groups left to join face to face for cancer support due to COVID.

Have checked out the nurses site and read some replies to other questions. Don’t think I’ll bother asking them. Nurses won’t commit themselves to giving certain answers. I can understand that of course but it’s no help to me. I will just have to ride it out. But thanks for the idea.
