Worried for initial diagnosis appointment

My husband was having problems with his stomach which got progressively worse over the last 10months. He had lots of blood tests & scans which were all coming back clear. He also had endoscopy & colonoscopy in December which also came back clear. Since the turn of the year he was unable to eat anything without bloating & pain. He finally managed to speak to a consultant who got him in to the hospital. He was then admitted & had explorative keyhole surgery. We were then told they found tumours around his organs although small there are a few of them. A biopsy has been done & we got a phone call yesterday to tell us we have an appointment at the cancer centre on Wednesday.

I feel like we’ve just been hit with a truck. With all test results coming back normal we didn’t think things would be this bad. Tomorrow we aren’t expecting great news. I’ve been feeling sick since the phone call. I feel upset but I haven’t cried. Neither of us slept much last night & probably won’t tonight. We haven’t told anyone else about the appointment as we want to have time to process the information first ourselves. I know my parents will worry about me & due to COVID I can’t see them.

my main worry at the moment is that I’m not going to cope with the news tomorrow and then dealing with telling family. We have 2 young kids too. It’s one thing suspecting bad news but another thing getting it. I feel totally lost at the moment.

Firstly, I’m really sorry to hear your news. I understand the stress you must be under. It’s absolutely exhausting. The only tip I can give you, is try not to assume the worst (even though I know it’s all consuming and when you hear that word, it’s where you mind goes). Keeping an element of hope at the moment, until you know the full prognosis will help keep you sane, and it sounds like you already are busy.

I genuinely from the bottom of my heart wish you all the best, I hope everything goes well. Take care of yourself X
