Hello everyone.  I'm a newbie in this group, I hope everyone is ok, today at least.

My husband has stage 4 metastatic Renal Clear Cell cancer. His metastases are to his remaining adrenal gland, nodules in his lungs, his pancreas and a lymph node in his chest.  His diagnosis was 4.5 yrs ago, but we've done well and been lucky as biological therapy only started in January this year, but ironically that's also when he got sick - the treatment to keep him alive makes him sick.

I'm here to hopefully find some kindred spirits and to offer my support where I can, and in turn I hope to find some support too.

I don't know where my journey will head from here on this cancer train but I know I need to start taking care of me too - and reaching out and finding support here I hope will be the first step towards a better journey.

Take care everyone and I look forward to getting to know some folk a bit more, and to offer help where I can.

    Hi Co5513,

My husband was diagnosed in April with stage 4 & grade 4 with Metastatic RCC with nodules in lymph & lung, he started on Pazopanib 2 weeks ago he’s had some diarrhoea and is very tired but otherwise he’s coping ok on it.

what is your husband taking, I’m a newbie too so may not babble to offer a lot of advice but it’s always nice to chat.

    Take care

  • Hi Buttercup19

My husbands diagnosis was 4.5 yrs ago now, he had a radical left nephrectomy almost immediately after diagnosis and then some radiotherapy about 18 months later but he didn't start biological therapy until January this year when there had been more metastases.

He started on combined therapy of axitinib which is an oral chemotherapy drug that he takes every day, then every 3 weeks he has an infusion of pembrolizumab.  He has struggled with various side effects since starting treatment and has had to be hospitalised a couple of times too.  At the moment his pembrolizumab has been suspended until August (2nd time its been suspended) due to trying to manage side effects. However he now seems to have some sort of infection but not sure where in his body.  He too suffers from tiredness, and the change in life quality has been quite stark for him but we continue to face every day as it comes but some days are harder than others aren't they. I'm disabled too and we have a 9 year old daughter so its all fun and games - or not lol!

Its definitely nice to chat and share experiences etc and just to make connections/friendships even with people who truly understand this journey.

I wish you and your husband well, and I'm here whenever you need xxx
