I feel so numb my bestest friend who is more like a dad to me is dying he's been told he as weeks I've watched him over the last week getting worse. I don't have any support and feel totally alone. I've been through this once already with my mom 22 years she as been gone. I just want to talk with someone who understands
Hi and welcome to the community though sorry to hear about your friend and your mum.
It can be really hard to talk about cancer but it is really common so there are probably lots of people you know who have been in the same position as you. Often though it is not the sort of conversation we might share over a cup of coffee.
Everyone is different and so there is no one size fits all but the emotional effects we all feel at times like this is tricky. My father died after a long illness so it was not totally unexpected and it some ways it was good he was no longer suffering but did not really make things that much easier. Looking back now it is good to remember the wonders he brought to our life but it takes time.
Do post on here whenever you want, there is always someone listening but if you need to talk to someone our helpline is open 7 days a week from 8am-8pm too,
Are you employed? If so your employer may well offer some kind of employee assistance programme that can be quite helpful too.
<<hugs>>
Steve
