Hi my best friend has started chemo today for secondary breast cancer in her liver.

She has a just turning 1 yr old , so im trying to help with some practical things that she doesn't have head space for at the moment.

We are putting together a care package and some bit stop help her get through her chemo and maybe make it slightly more comfortable.

Could anyone suggest some things, any products , moisturisers , tips or suggestions pls?

maybe something to help reduce or stop nails going black, natural moisturisers.

We have so far, cozy socks, lip balm, insulated water bottle and toiletry bag.

Any suggestions would be so appreciated xx

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

What a lovely friend you are looking for things to make life a little more comfortable for your friend while she goes through chemotherapy!

Not having had chemotherapy myself I'm not going to be much use for suggesting things. However, I'm sure if you join and post this message in the secondary breast cancer group the people over there will be able to tell you what they found made life better whilst they were undergoing chemotherapy.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then copy and paste your question into a new post after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Hello

Both my Mum (64) and Aunite (44) have recently had chemotherapy, I would suggest the following:

Electric water bottle/pilow (it is easier/safer to reheat quickly)

A snuggle blanket (gives comfort - keep it clean and smelling fresh)

Sock/Slipper boots (lighter than slippers, easier to keep on and safer than slippers)

Elderflower cordial or/and Lemon juice (need to find a juice that the person like the taste of - Aunite loved peach cordial)

Pyjamas (if unable to or don't want to get dressed, need to be changed daily)

Nice glass and cup for drinks (both used straws, we purchased mental ones so could clean in dishwasher)

These are just a few thoughts - everyone is slightly different and reactions/response different.
