Due to the current situation I cannot be with my mum, who’s going through chemo in Germany atm. Which makes me feel pretty useless.
Is there any virtual cancer support groups I could join to talk about what I’m going through with other sufferers via a video chat?
Hi and welcome to the community, though sorry to hear about your mum.
This is a really good question and I am sorry I do not know of an answer since most of the emphasis on virtual support has been in terms of either on-line fora like the community or by telephone. You would of course be welcome to phone the helpline here 0808 808 0000 though while we can provide slightly more general support they are unlikely to know the specifics around treatment in Germany.
One of the support groups that does get a lot of good feedback is Maggies and they invite people to phone them on 0300 123 1801.
If you wanted you could join a group here directly involved in your mum's cancer and we also have a group Living with cancer outside the UK - Discussion Forum who might be able to share some experiences that might be helpful.
While you might feel useless I hope you are able to keep in touch not only with your mother but with others who might be giving more hands on support because the simple fact that you have come here shows how much you care.
<<hugs>>
Steve
