Covid 19 and going out

My husband has a terminal diagnosis in January  and was given around a year if he had 6 months of chemo.  He has had 4 chemos’s so far, the last but one was reduced by 20% to try and reduce side effects and the last one was 4 weeks ago as he wasn’t well enough to have the next one.  He is due to have the next one tomorrow, but I am very scared that he is still not well enough.  The covid 19 news and not being able to go out is really dragging him down.  We had originally booked  a couple of holidays in March April and May (mainly to celebrate special birthdays) all of which have been cancelled and this is exacerbating his already low mood.  He is so short of breath now (come on over last couple of weeks), he can’t walk anywhere anyway, do you think it will be ok to drive to seaside to have a picnic in car and come home again or will we be picked up by police potentially charged?

Hi, I really feel for you. I am in the same boat myself but maybe have a little longer. My advice would be to be careful and discrete and not do anything to put others at risk, and to take a copy of his prognosis with you. In the unlikely event that you were stopped I'm sure most officers would show clemency in light of the circumstances.

    Good luck.

  • Hi

I can understand why you want to go with your husband for a picnic to the seaside and, in normal circumstances, this would be a great idea.

I live in a county with a lot of popular seaside resorts and there was a report on our local news last night about police turning people away as they arrived or intercepting them en route.

Could you set up a picnic in your back garden? I know it's not the same but it would be a lot safer for both of you.
