Hi

my mum was diagnosed in January with pancreatic cancer spread to the liver and spleen with no treatment available only pain meds

she is deteriorating now and struggling to eat we have had drinks off the dietician to help her build up

she is also insulin dependent due to diabetes and is starting to refuse it with all her meds

has anyone experienced this and would appreciate advice

thanks Blush

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to hear that your mum has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which has spread. It sounds like a very difficult time for you both.

I don't know from what you've posted if you are your mum's carer but if you are then can I suggest that you also join the carers only group which is a safe and supportive place to share your worries and emotions. As that group is only for carers if you're not your mum's carer then joining the supporting someone with incurable cancer group would offer a similar level of support.

In both of these groups you'll probably find others who have or are experiencing the same issues regarding eating and taking medication.

To join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be useful if could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
