Hi ,
sorry to hear about your mum, we can all remember that time prior to the diagnosis when it is just a "probably", trying to stay strong can be really hard especially as the people we might like to be able to support us we might not want to worry.
We have some pages on looking after someone with cancer and you will see there is a section on emotional care for us.
Perhaps the key message we generally have is to take things one day at a time and remember to be kind to ourselves even if sometimes that can feel just a little bit selfish.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Hi Lane79,
Im sorry to hear that your mum probably has pancreatic cancer. I lost my mam to this disease 15 months ago. Like you, my mam and I were also very close. You all have a tough journey ahead of you and my advice is to take one day at a time. Be positive and dont let the cancer define who your mum is or change the way you are together. Help her live her life as only you, her daughter, can. Please take all of the support you can, we were very lucky, my mam has three sisters and a brother who were all there to help myself, sister and dad as we cared for mam. The one piece of practical advice i can give you and i cant stress enough is NUTRITION. I know eating can be difficult but it has a huge impact on keeping well. Take care of yourself aswell. The best of luck to you and your family. Stay strong and be brave.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
