  1. I usually post in the carer's forum, but guess I'm not a carer anymore Disappointed. Dad's been gone two weeks tomorrow,  and I don't feel any better. I'm still really struggling and miss him so much. Funeral is on 30th October,  and I am dreading it. Meant to be reading a poem/ prose, but everything makes me cry.  I can barely speak about dad, let alone in a chapel full of people.  I wish I could turn back the clock to catch this disease before it took over dad. Feel so lostPensive
  • Hi

I'm so sorry for your recent loss and it's normal to be missing your dad.

As you know, the online community is divided into different support groups so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you join the bereaved family and friends group where you'll connect directly with others who have lost a loved one to cancer.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

  • I do feel for you. Grief really can be a raw emotion.

I spoke at my Dad's funeral and it helped that I had someone else primed to step in if I couldn't get through it. Someone also reminded me how much all the people listening would be upholding me.

I realised after it's not like a job interview or a TV event. It's an occasion where emotions happy or sad are what it's all about.

    Thinking of you

  • Thank you so much for your message, it's very kind of you. X
