Hi everyone

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December last year and I had a radical hysterectomy in January! Thankfully all cancer had been removed which was such a relief! I have been dealing with everything so well and returned to work in April!! The last few weeks it’s all just hit me and I am so anxious that the cancer will return! I am taking it out on my husband and I know I am being very snappy which is just not me !! Why has it hit me now?? Is this normal to feel like this?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I didn't have the same type of cancer as you, I know what it's like to have the anxiety of a potential recurrence. So yes, it's perfectly normal to worry about recurrence.

I can see that you've joined the ovarian cancer group and it might be an idea to also post this in that group as you'll then connect directly with people who have the same type of cancer as you.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

This is a link to some Macmillan info which I found helpful. I realise you may have already seen it.

I certainly have had mixed emotions after treatment/surgery has finished. I'm guessing we are not the only ones.

I also have been using the Macmillan Hope course to help me.
