I have a brain cancer which has robbed me of memory and very wobbly when walking. It started five years ago cannot remember anything, just remember being at home with hospital bed in my front room. Getting stronger everyday then at Xmas my wife of 35 years and got me through this said she was leaving. Got three lovely kids who are supporting me but have their families to support as well. Keep thinking why me x won’t even talk to me text or anything. Stuck with a catheter and sleeping in the hospital bed could not provide her with the love and support. I think that’s the main reason why she left. But she made up a story that a forged her signature on a loan we took out. I’ve managed to get a copy of the form it was signed by us and two independent witnesses. My writing has always been scruffy compared to my x. I think that her way of making people to support her . So house is being sold and I’ve got to find somewhere to move to. My son and his wife are looking for me because of my memory etc. cannot help feeling lost in all of this crying and have to rely on people to bust or help me. I find it hard talking one to one with people that’s my weakness.

Got lovely grandkids that do give me a purpose to carry on. So things are really hard at moment perhaps when we find somewhere to move change of scenery will help me to give a kick to start a new chapter.

  • Hi  I am so sorry to read about the journey you are on...... I am ever so fortunate that I have not had to navigate the challenges that you are dealing with so have no first hand advice to bring............ but yes, grandchildren are truly a blessing though.

Do remember that the Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.

We also have our Ask an Expert section where we have various teams of Macmillan Experts available to help you out, but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Macmillan have also teamed up with BUPA to offer up to 6 free counselling sessions for people struggling emotionally because they are living with cancer. Clicking on the link will give you more information about this.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

  • I’ve booked a phone call next week from one of your team.

  • Well done, I do hope that the initial call will be helpful.
