My husband was diagnosed just before new year with AML and has had chemo but was tolD last week that it hadn’t worked. He’s relatively well in himself but on constant anti biotics. He starts next chemo tomorrow and it’s a much more aggressive treatment - FLAG ida and Venetoclax. The consultant was very matter of fact and said if Thai doesn’t work we’re out of options.
we both broke down lots this weekend but last night came to a head. We called Macmillan who were amazing and pointed me in thia Groups direction. Not sure what I hope anybody can help me with except maybe somebody else in a similar position/ has been in a similar position might be able to offer “something”? Never been in this position before and honestly do feel quite lost.
I felt my head was in ok place before last weeks news of not working but now im Not eating or sleeping properly but trying to function. My work have been amazing but I need to keep going as a. Need the money (husband has lost his business and any income from this) and b. It’s almost like an escape… but then it comes back to smack you in the face when you least expect it !!
Any advise gratefully received x
Hi Fur baby mummy ……. at times like these all you have is hope.
Hope that the FLAG ida and Venetoclax will do the job.
Hope that he can move onto Stem Cell Transplant.
Hope that if this dies not work something else will be found.
This is a challenging time for you, but you must look after yourself as you need strength and this only comes from eating properly and sleep.
Knowing that someone you love is having a hard time is very hard, you might like to take a look at this information from Macmillan on your feelings when someone has cancer and especially this section on looking after yourself. If you're starting to struggle then it would be a good idea to have a chat with your GP.
