Started off feeling so positive thing would be ok after early diagnosis great treatment from my local hospital but now it's all gone with first lot of chemo was able to carry on my life with some changes /side effects but since I changed drug it's all gone wrong meaning I'm house bound and feeling ill all the time I find myself worrying that my grown up children will come home from work one day and find me dead on the floor as can't walk more than 5yards without terrible dizziness due to blood pressure issues and I don't know what to do  I want my life back and I know this will pass in my heart of hearts once they can sort it but  but no light at the end of the tunnel so far how do I get back to were I was even a small bit of hope would help

  • Sorry to hear you're feeling so worried right now, I think many of us have ups and downs as we go through treatment. Chemo can be tough, but it's a means to an end and it helped me to know that this struggle was killing the cancer and I would be stronger once it was over.  It also helped me to focus on doing the little things each day, nothing major.  Hope this helps and best wishes

  • Thank you irishgirl16 your reply really helped

  • Your post struck a chord with me as I remember how hard I found chemo.   It may be worth asking if they can reduce the dose.   I really struggled with the first dose and they reduced it and I found it easier.  The oncologist told me they needed to get the balance right as it was more important to finish the course and they didn’t want to stop treatment.

I also used to find it easier once I knew what to expect- though I still found the first week really tough.  I used the app Headspace to get me through the hard times.  It really helped me as it teaches mindfulness techniques.

Hang in there! You will get through it!
