The main reason I'm on here is to just be able to talk to others about keeping our spirits up, I'm from Australia and have no friends here in Scotland I moved with my partner and (son born in Australia) 2017 because my partner was missing friends and family (mother since passed) and brother We met in Australia in 2000 and lived there together for 17 years got married in the UK and are still together our son lives with us he is on the spectrum and they are both quite introverted.

Hi I've just joined this group I was diagnosed with HHC I think it is called, it's a liver tumour. I'm here because I get very depressed.

I was diagnosed with HHC I think it's called, I've had AIH since 2003. Which is autoimmune Liver Hepatitis amongst other things. I had an 18 month old at the time so it came as a shock it is not somthing you catch it's in you. The experts don't really know how you get it but you're body treats the organ as the enemy and tries to get rid of it so I've been on Prednisolone in varieties of strengths and various immunosuppressents for a long time as its been over 20 years I'm now 61 and having been tested for all those years I've developed a tumour in my liver I've had a tace procedure and am about to see if it worked in a week. Even if that worked I may develop another it's the nature of my cancer. My kidneys are not very good either due to damage from all the medications so I have limited options transplants are not an option for me unfortunately I'm not a good candidate apparently. Anyway that's my background of illness.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your journey and the challenges you are facing.

Navigating a cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and put up your own post in our dedicated Liver Cancer Support Group.

This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

To connect in with the group please click on the link below…….

    Liver cancer

……. and once the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.

You can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.

You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial/work guidance or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and they do have a few centres across Scotland.

Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
