Ever since my dad got diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at the beginning of August, it has been a really difficult time for all of us as a family.
No one expected this at all and it's really rocked our world our house is like a pressure cooker of emotions right now. My dad is really angry at the situation and no longer has any patience about things anymore.
My mother is under an enormous amount of stress with everything, and has started to look into counselling as she is very emotional.
My brother and I are trying to help as best we can, but it's not easy.
But it has also brought us closer together as a family and helped us put things into perspective. My dad has managed to make up with his two estranged brothers and put the past behind him. He had not spoken to either of them for over twelve years but the minute we called to say he has cancer, they both wanted to come and see him and make up for lost time
Over the years, one thing me and my dad loved doing, was recording music together. I play saxophone and he plays guitar and vocals. One of the songs we recorded is a beautiful ballad called the Water is Wide and listening to it takes me back to a time when my dad was well and able to sing.
So I thought I'd share it with you:
