Hi I have recently been diagnosed with stage 4. Suffering from a lot of anxiety which is interfeering with living what life i have left. I could really do with some support from anyone out there who is also stage 4 to share tips for living and to message when things are bad!!! Thanks

  • Hi , I am so sorry to hear you are suffering from anxiety. Anxiety in itself, not allowing for dealing with cancers, is debilitating.

I was diagnosed back in 1999 with an incurable type of blood cancer and back in mid 2013 I was stage 4......  but after a lot of treatment I achieved remission in Sep 2016 for the first time in over 17 years.

At the very start of my journey my great Specialist Cancer Nurse said something like..... “Mike you need to understand that this is going to be a long and hard, journey and you will start to experience anxiety. But if you can ‘get’ that you can try and throw all the anxiety in the world at this it will not make any difference to what is said or what happens..... then you will actually deal better with your journey as anxiety is debilitating and will just make you more ill”....and this is how I lived all these 22 years. One day at a time, enjoying the moment and leaving tomorrow for tomorrow.

You may want to put up the same post in the Breast cancer group as this will open your thoughts up to a wider group of people and people who are on the same type of cancer journey as you ((hugs))

  • Hi

I'm also living with stage four cancer . Please don't feel your alone , this is so difficult what we are going through . My macmillan counselor really supports me and I have found this helps . I have just taken baby steps each day to get through  if I do something positive I  congratulate myself  even if it's only making it to Morrison's !!!  ( Scary place with noise and people )

I also meditate everyday which just gives me space to get away from my thoughts .

Anytime you want a chat I'm always here I'm  off sick from work so at home all day difficult in itself . My thoughts are with you .xx
