this Tuesday I am attending western park hospital in sheffield to discuss 6 to 8 weeks of chemo, I was informed I had cancer of the oesophagus a few weeks back, with a view to curative surgery mid feb after a break from chemo in january2020. I have a good surgeon. my prognosis is good and its looking like I will make a total recovery in time god willing. how does chemo  affect you ? I have heard different reports. I am a 69 year old male never smoked and fairly fit. 15 stone. can chemo actually shrink a cancer tumour ? I am curious. sending love and good vibes from Sheffield to all cancer suffers everywhere xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis but it's good that you're being offered curative surgery after chemo. It's natural to want to know how chemotherapy will affect you so could I suggest that you post this question in the oesophagus cancer group which I see you have already joined.

Clicking on the link I've created will take you directly there where you'll then benefit from the experiences of those who have had the treatment that has been proposed to you.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could update your profile with your journey so far as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

I hope everything goes well on Tuesday.
