  • Wondering how people have coped during chemotherapy. My second one has been delayed due to low platelets. Oncologist now consideting reducing next one by 20%, which should be on tuesday. Ive had a lot of side effects and ive lost nearly all of my hair. My treatment is cisplatin and etopiside.
  • I feel well at the moment which i am extremely grateful for. I have been walking outside listening to the birds and enjoying the sunshine. and pottering around the house.
  • Makes me appreciate how precious thingx truly are.
  • Hi   as challenging as the treatment journey gets it’s very important to look for the things that brings light, life and comfort into a your life as you navigate this unwanted journey.

Over my main 2 years treatment (See my story) I had over 750hrs of chemo, 45 radiotherapy zaps and eventually 2 Allogenic (donor) Stem Cell Transplants.

At times the treatment can play havoc with your platelets and brings other challenges…… indeed I had 2 of my 6 cycles delayed for various reasons but in the long run it made no real difference to the outcomes.

Keep living for the silver lining especially during the more challenging times ((hugs))

  • Hi The Highlander yes i completely agree with you. I have a wonderful family and friends but this cancer journey has had very dark lonely days. Listening to people like yourselves give me hope that brighter days will be ahead for us.

I read your encouraging remarkable story thank you for sharing.

    Thanks

    Amanda

  • Yes Amanda it can be a challenge at times and some folks like do find it isolating.

I don’t know where you live but looking for opportunities to actually talk ‘face to face’ can help a lot….. so do check to see if you have any Local Support in your area and do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.

  • Hi ive messaged Maggies today and hoping for a reply from them in next few days thank you so much. I live in Cardiff.

  • Heya.

This is my own story in order to tell here. I had operations before and afterwards. Since I was diagnosed with stage 1B osteosarcoma that was the only safe option. I had a procedure to insert the chemotherapy device. That was very hard. But it worked well. You can do this. Then after a while they reviewed the chemo and proceeded with the surgery.

I did puzzles. I read many different books as well. In all I had four or five operations to treat it. Good luck. The operation worked well. In between I had chemo. Radiotherapy was not an option. Do update us. Welcome to the community.
