I had surgery late last August for stage 2 ovarian cancer and began chemotherapy (carboplatin) end of October. I completed only four out of the planned six cycles because physically I couldn’t continue. My final treatment was early January. Two months later I still have fatigue, brain fog and mixed emotions. I’ve been walking for exercise, though I’m still experiencing pain from the radical hysterectomy. I have an appointment with my oncologist on April 15th to find out whether I’m in remission. Some days feel manageable, others much harder. I expected to have recovered more by now.
Hello Spudtm,
I've had chemo twice (cisplatin / vinorelbine in 2014 age 58 and docetaxel in 2024 age 68) and on both occasions recovery from side effects including those you mentioned took several months. I also found, like you have, that some days were manageable and others less so.
I think it's maybe a little early for these to have cleared yet, but it would be a good opportunity to ask your oncologist at your appointment in a couple of weeks. In the meantime walking for exercise should certainly help with recovery.
If you haven't already done so it might be useful to put your question to the ovarian cancer forum?
I hope your recovery continues well and your appointment is favourable.
